My Journey with the Yamaha Waverunner VX HO

As a self-proclaimed “merman” from Nova Scotia, I’ve spent a significant portion of my life immersed in the water. Wanting to own a watercraft had always been a desire of mine, but I struggled to take the first step, leading to procrastination and hesitation. Finally, this summer, my dream became a reality when I purchased a 2023 Waverunner from SeaMasters. I knew this incredible machine would unlock a world of excitement and cherished memories for me and my children, but it has surpassed my expectations in almost every aspect. Within just a month of owning it, we’ve been out countless times, giving me a good understanding of the machine and inspiring me to write this review – as a complete newbie to watercraft, I even had to watch YouTube tutorials on how to tie it at a dock the night before picking it up ? !

My Journey with the Yamaha Waverunner VX HO

Having spent the majority of my adult life off-roading in the woods, covered in mud on our ATVs and SXSs, I wanted to switch things up and enjoy some time on the water this summer. Living in St. Margarets Bay with the ocean at our doorstep, I had always felt the barrier of entry into the water was too daunting compared to the woods, dissuading me from making a purchase. However, a few months ago, I stopped by SeaMasters and laid eyes on the all-white 2023 WaveRunner VX HO, instantly falling in love. It was simply too beautiful to pass up; I had to have it. After looking over its features and watching countless videos of people riding them, I managed to convince my wife to let me pull the trigger (y’know how it is ? ). With its three spacious seats, bringing the kids along for the ride is effortless. Thankfully, my wife shares my sentiment that these precious moments with our children pass by far too quickly. Having the Waverunner at our disposal opens up a whole new world of adventures with our little ones, allowing us to explore the ocean and visit countless islands from here to Bridgewater. I brought it home on a Friday afternoon, and by Saturday morning, we were zipping around Ponhook Lake, towing the kids in a tube.

My Journey with the Yamaha Waverunner VX HO

We’re all familiar with that feeling when we’ve done our research online and committed to a purchase. We hope and pray that when we bring our new machine home, it lives up to our dreams. However, as we know, YouTube videos and online reading can only provide so much insight. It’s not until you bring it home and go out a few times that you truly understand the nuances that might either annoy or captivate you. Everyone will use their machine differently, and what I love about mine may not matter to someone else. Fortunately, I can confidently say that my personal experience with my first watercraft has been exceptional. I’ve discovered numerous incredible features and have fallen even more in love with it. I’ll make it easy and list them below.

My Journey with the Yamaha Waverunner VX HO

1 - The power is crazy.
These 1800CC machines do NOT disappoint. I’m accustomed to riding a 600-class sport bike, and the acceleration is very comparable. It’s truly exhilarating. It’ll pull your pals on a tube no problem, take my word for it.

2 - Easy to handle.
The watercraft responds just as you would expect. I went from not even knowing how to turn it on to feeling extremely comfortable and in control in probably 10 minutes or less.

3 - Storage.
There’s plenty of storage for what it is. The front end lifts up entirely with a simple latch, allowing you to store ropes, bumpers, life jackets, and even a lunch kit. It’s perfect. Additionally, there’s storage between your legs where you can tuck your keys, wallet, phone, and maybe a drink or two for easy access. Lastly, there’s a small box under the seat that I’ve been using to hold extra rope.

4 - The stereo.
It may seem almost ridiculous to have a stereo on a watercraft… until you experience it firsthand. It’s incredible. There have been numerous occasions out on the water where my buddies and I tie up together, and I’m the only one with music, so I can crank it up and we have tunes out on the water. I didn’t expect to love this feature as much as I do, but having Post Malone blasting while cruising up and down the lake is clutch! The box between your legs has a USB cable inside, so you can simply plug it in and go plus it charges your device.

5 - Seating.
The three seats provide plenty of room for me and at least a couple of my kids. I wanted the ability to get out on the water with my children without the responsibility of owning a boat, and this machine has been perfect for that. It allows us to have fun with the least amount of friction possible.

6 - Tie-down spots.
This is something I personally didn’t even consider at all initially. It didn’t cross my mind until I had it in the water and started tying it off at various docks and wharfs. That’s when I realized how crucial proper cleat and anchor points are on a watercraft. I don’t have many comparisons, but I can vouch for the well-thought-out tie-down spots on this machine. It may seem like a small thing until you’re out on the water. The sleek and retractable cleats on the side are amazing.

7 - The looks.
It’s the best-looking of the bunch. The number of compliments I receive on my all-white Waverunner everywhere I go is incredible. Additionally, I personally love the rooster tail that Yamaha does. While many people may not realize it, the jet stream of water shooting up behind the Waverunner serves as a safety feature, making you more visible to other boats on the water from a distance. Personally, I think it looks really cool and adds a touch of uniqueness. It also allows you to instantly recognize other members of the Yammy family when you’re out bouncing around.

Conclusion
In conclusion, my journey into the world of watercraft ownership has been nothing short of incredible. The 2023 Waverunner VXHO from SeaMasters has surpassed my expectations in every aspect. Its exhilarating power, ease of handling, ample storage, impressive stereo system, comfortable seating, and well-designed tie-down spots have made it the perfect companion for memorable adventures on the water. Whether I’m spending quality time with my kids, enjoying the thrill of acceleration, or simply cruising with my favorite tunes, this watercraft has brought tonnes of joy into my life already. I can confidently say that taking the leap and becoming a proud owner of a Waverunner has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It has opened up a whole new world of excitement and shared experiences with my loved ones. So, if you’re on the fence about getting a watercraft, I wholeheartedly recommend taking that leap and embracing the incredible adventures that await. YOLO
